About

I am an artist reflecting two cultures. I came to the United States two decades ago from Yemen, and the rich history and culture where I grew up has always inspired me. The ancient city of Sanaa with its incredible old houses built with clay (Torab) and plaster opened my eyes to the beauty of pottery.

Yemen has only a handful of artists but living in the US has immersed me in an artisitic environment. I have been painting abstracts with oil in bright colors and work as x-ray technologist, but pottery has become the major outlet for my creativity,

I'm working with different techniques to create a variety of pieces, sometimes combined with fragments of memory from the old city of Sanaa, to bring both cultures together. There is still so much to do and I am always feeling that I am still at the beginning.

My goal as an artist is simple: to make items that are functional, absolutely beautiful, and a part of everyday life. I want my work to be transcendent, to take my customers into their imaginations by living with something beautiful every day,

Nothing will please me more than making work for people who love what I do, connecting with my customers and bringing beautiful things into their lives.
